At Roverlund, we know choosing the right carrier for your adventure buddy is essential to enjoying smooth journeys together. Whether youāre running errands around town or jetting off to far-away places, having a carrier that your pup is comfortable in is a necessity.
Here are our tips to select the rightĀ size Roverlund pet carrier!
WEIGH YOUR PUP
You can use your pup'sĀ estimated weight as a guide to select the best pet carrier size.
TheĀ Out-of-Office PetĀ Carrier comes in two sizes:
- SmallĀ (suitable for most dogs and cats 15 lbs and under)
- LargeĀ (suitable for most dogs and cats 25 lbs and under)
When in doubt, we always recommend going a size up.
MEASURE YOUR PUPāS LENGTH AND HEIGHT
If you have a measuring tape handy, you can also take their measurements to confirm it will be a good fit. Start at the front of their chest and measure the distance to their rear. For their height, measure from the top of their shoulder blade to the base of their paw.
- SmallĀ fits most dogs up to 16.5" in length and 10" in height
- Large fits most dogs up to 18.5ā in length and 12" in height.
Iāve received the carrier. How do I know it is the right fit?
It is okay if the carrier is a snugger fit, as long as your petĀ seems comfortable and can turn around inside the bag.
Most Pups Wonāt Stand Up in the Carrier
It is totally normal if your petĀ is not able to stand up in the carrier.
Think of the ideal size as a cozy, snuggly place for your pup or cat to curl up in and snooze. With soft-sided carriers like ours, most pupsāunless they are teacup or toy size breedsāwill not be able to stand up insideāand thatās okay!
Maximizing Your Pup's Space for AirĀ Travel
Our carriers are in-cabin compliantĀ with most major airlines.
Each carrier is designed to fit within the space under the seat in front of you, which is typically about 12ā in height.
Our pet carrier is one of the largest in-cabin compliantĀ carriers available. When traveling by plane with our Large size, we recommend removing your carrier'sĀ rear pocket insert. This way, your carrier's flexible rear frame can more easily conform to the seat requirements in front of you.
Please keep in mind that in-cabin pet policies are subject to change at any time, and we always encourage our customers to reach out to your specific airline prior to your planned travel with any concerns you may have.

This rolling wheel base is awesome. Exceeded expectations in design, how easy it is to fold up and store, and how well it rolls. Makes traveling with pets so easy.
This carrier is made of quality materials, is spacious, and great for securing little escape artists like my pup. There is plenty of storage in the front and back pockets and the view panels are fantastic.
I bough This carrier 4 years ago to pick up my boy from out of state for the first time. Since then we have had many adventures, flying all over the country. When I got him he was 4lbs. My boy clocks in at a healthy 25lbs now, and still fits perfectly and the carrier is still going strong. Whenever I bust it out, my guy knows he gets to come and hops right in.
I purchased the dog carrier, leash, collar, and **** bag holder and they have lasted well over a year. I the clip I used on my leash broke (not from Roverlund) and the **** bag holder got lost. I was upset because this is the best holder out there because it holds 2 rolls and it was always nice to have a backup one. I am thankful that the company still carries them (although they were sold out in the orange/camo). High quality and great prices!!! You won't be disappointed.
I purchased the previous version in late 2023. It had gone on multiple cross country flights with us. My dog was obsessed with it, too. A few months ago, he scratched a small hole in the door mesh and would stick his nose out. Then later it turned into a slit big enough for him to slip out. When I saw that Roverlund improved the mesh and design I purchased a new one. The carrier is high quality and I love the design. When it arrived, my dog wagged his tail and immediately went inside. He sometimes naps in it during the day. For reference, heās a 17lb mini schnauzer and the large is perfect for him.
I have tried a few other carriers. Decided on a backpack style with wheels. My 18 lb Cavapoo was like the Tasmanian Devil inside that thing, and it bottomed out when I tried to roll it through the airport. I was skeptical when I purchased the Out of Office Pet Carrier from Roverlund. We put our pup inside. Shoved her head down so we could close it. And to our amazement, she just laid down and actually seemed happy. We carried it around for several minutes and she was absolutely fine. I'm in shock. I highly recommend this product!
Iām really impressed with the quality materials and construction of the carrier. It will undoubtedly hold up for many years.
I am giving 5 stars for the look and design of this pet carrier and carry on bundle. I am less excited about the carry on. I love the look of it on its side and its wheels. The carrier though! This is right! Cindy for my senior Chorkie. 11 years old. He feels safe in it and itās made it easy to train him for his first flight using free shaping and food lure. Super stylish. I will be trying to return the carry on as I feel the price for the quality is a bit high. Almost 300 bucks. Itās good just not that good. Itās pretty much in the same price point as away or monos luggage. BUT style and matching is on point with the carrier and for a carry it will hold up I believe. Customer was quick to respond to my questions with a mix up in shipping address. MUCH APPRECIATED. All in all I am happy with my carrier. If the carry on was 150-200 bucks I would keep it.
The Roverlund carrier worked well for my 16 lb pup on Delta airlines. He was comfortable and safe in the carrier.
Solid carrier, extremely functional. We have a 11lb australian labradoodle and selected the large size. This was advertised to fit under the seat on the airplane and it did (you have to remove the plate on one end to be able to stuff it under). Dog fit in there great, slept well and had no issues during a 3hr flight. The pass through allows it to attach to the handle of a standard roller board. Only issue was a mean gate attendant attempting to make me stuff my dog into a sizer to get him on the plane after I paid a $150 pet fee - I guess the bag looked so good she didnāt think it was a pet carrier!
Seems comfortable for my girl. Itās easy to carry and manage. Fits perfectly under seat in airplane.
